INSPIRE Alliance Summit
On April 25 and 26, 2012, Dr. Phyllis M. Wise, Vice President of the University of Illinois and Chancellor of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign hosted President Harriet Wallberg-Henriksson of Karolinska Institutet, President Peter Gudmundson of KTH Royal Institute of Technology, and Vice-Chancellor Kåre Bremer of Stockholm University for a two-day summit, bringing together the key leadership, as well as senior administrators and key faculty, from all four INSPIRE partner and potential partner institutions.
The summit aims included a substantive discussion of the vision and goals of the INSPIRE alliance, as well as the specific, immediate actions that will be taken to nurture the alliance and ensure its ongoing success. This includes initiatives in support of exchange and close partnership in research, education, and public engagement. To this end, the summit also included participation from the Embassy of Sweden, the Swedish-American Chambers of Commerce, the Swedish Institute, Stockholm County, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the Champaign County Public Housing Authority.
Work and Study in Sweden Fair
In conjunction with the INSPIRE Alliance Summit, a "Work and Study in Sweden" informational session was held for University of Illinois students. This event included representatives from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm University, the Swedish American Chamber of Commerce, and the Swedish Institute, and was ppen to the university community.
